Allowances for those raising children
Child Allowance
A child allowance (¥5,000 to ¥15,000 per child) is provided each month for those raising children (until the first March 31st following the child’s 15th birthday). Recipients of this allowance need to meet income eligibility requirements.
Child-rearing Allowance
A monthly allowance of ¥13,500 per child is provided to single parents and households with a parent who is severely disabled that are raising children (until the first March 31st following the child’s 18th birthday). Recipients of this allowance need to meet income eligibility requirements.
Child Support Allowance
This allowance is provided to single parents and households with a parent who is seriously disabled (until the first March 31 after the child reaches the age of 18; if the child has a disability specified by a government ordinance, until the child reaches 20 years old). Recipients of this allowance need to meet income eligibility requirements.
