International Exchange, Volunteer Activities

Chuo Cultural and International Exchange Association (CCIEA)

The Chuo Cultural and International Exchange Association (CCIEA) promotes exchanges between Japanese and foreign residents through hosting cultural events that introduce the culture and arts of Chuo City, and other events made possible with the cooperation of volunteers. These include international exchange gatherings, the International Exchange Salon and Japanese-language classes.

International Exchange Party

Once a year in November, an exchange event is held to both introduce traditional Japanese culture to foreigners and expose Japanese Chuo City residents to foreign cultures. The event is planned and put on by volunteers, with sections dedicated to tea ceremony, wearing kimono, dancing, and more.

International Exchange Salon

The International Exchange Salon provides an opportunity for foreign and Japanese residents to casually interact with each other. Volunteers plan and manage events with different themes at each session, such as a tea ceremony experience, Bon dancing and making Japanese-style sweets.

To participate in the Salons, you must make a reservation beforehand.
